FORD AUTOMOTIVE BOOTH AT NAIAS – Detroit, MI
ESG provided structural design and analysis for this trade show booth that measured approximately 150' x 400' in plan, with an installation height of about 25'. The ceiling of the booth consisted of more than 6,000 linear feet of custom aluminum box truss specifically designed for this installation. A vertical wall element, also consisting of theatrical style aluminum truss, was designed to support cantilevered display loads in excess of 2,000 lbs on several points. Services included a verification of the existing structure within Cobo Hall to ensure there would be no interference with the building during installation. The client reported that there were no installation glitches during load-in even though the unit was designed to be within 3" of existing roof trusses and no more than 6" from existing columns.

FOX OAKLAND THEATER – Oakland, CA
This nearly eighty year old national landmark is currently undergoing renovation. The reopened theater will utilize a flexible configuration to hold between 500 and 2,100 patrons. Steven Schaefer Associates, along with ESG, provided a feasibility study of the building related to theatrical loads, a possible new rigging system, seismic considerations and the general condition of the building structural frame.
